Learning Outcomes

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify and Describe:

    • The basic anatomy and physiology of the skin.
    • Common dermatological conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, and skin infections.
    • The pathophysiology underlying these conditions.

    • Appropriate use of emollients and steroids, focusing on selection, application techniques, and managing patient responses to these treatments.

    Dr Ahmed Kazmi

    Dr. Ahmed Kazmi, an accomplished dermatologist with UK training and accreditation, earned his undergraduate degree in Medicine from the prestigious University of Birmingham in 2008. His journey began with training in general practice, during which he concurrently pursued the challenging UK physician exam (MRCP). While practicing as a General Practitioner, Dr. Kazmi passionately cultivated his interest in dermatology, participating in various courses, including the distinguished postgraduate diploma in clinical dermatology at Queen Mary University, where he achieved excellence with a distinction. Driven by his commitment to excellence, in 2017, Dr. Kazmi made the pivotal decision to retrain in dermatology. Choosing the renowned Royal London Hospital and Royal Free Hospital for his specialised training, he further honed his skills and expertise in the field. Today, Dr. Ahmed Kazmi stands as a dedicated and highly trained dermatologist, committed to providing exceptional care to his patients with a wealth of knowledge and experience garnered through his illustrious career.

    Varun Vijay Kumar

    Dr Varun Kumar (MBBS (Lond), MBA(Lond)) is a doctor currently working in Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS trust. He graduated from Barts and the London medical school with a Distinction as well as an MBA from London. He currently sits as a Council Member for the Royal Society of Medicine, General practice and primary care Section. He was also previously an Associate for the NHS clinical Leaders Network, as well as a board member for RCGP Northeast London Faculty.   His interest lies in Dermatology, having done his elective at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, University of Sydney. He has also presented Internationally as well as locally and won awards for research done on community skin surgery as well as skin conditions in skin of colour. He also has an interest in medical technology, and has interned in Silicon Valley at Zeda, the world’s first Medifacturing company which pioneers integrated healthcare solutions using 3D printing and nano technologies. He is passionate about Primary care, Dermatology, technology and innovation in medicine.
