The Minor Injuries course is suitable for healthcare professionals working in advanced roles in urgent nd primary care. The introductory 3 day classroom course is suitable for clinicians who are new to seeing and treating minor injuries. Sessions explores assessment and treatment of upper and lower limb injuries with a focus on clinical decision-making, red flags and appropriate management. Some of the content are recorded webinars with 3 month access to give you flexibility to learn at your own pace. We also offer related courses such as Plastering and Suturing, Upper and Lower Limb X-Ray Interpretation and Wound Care as stand alone sessions.

  • Have a UK or overseas degree from a recognised institution or equivalent professional or other qualification.
  • Hold professional registration with the relevant Nursing or Allied Health Professional Body/Council or the GMC.
  • You will normally have a minimum of 3 years post-registration experience in a relevant care environment.
  • You should be employed in a role that will support development of clinical skills during the programme should you wish to complete the competency portfolio which is optional.
  • You should be working in a relevant clinical environment in which you can achieve the clinical skills required. You should have access to an appropriate practice supervisor within that area.

  • Ethical and Legal issues including consent and capacity
  • Upper and Lower Limb Assessment and  Management of Injuries
  • Statement writing
  • Practical upper and lower limb assessment day
  • Musculoskeletal disorders and medication for MSK injuries.
  • “Red Dot” X-Ray Interpretation

This course is suitable for nurses and registered healthcare professionals working in acute and unscheduled care settings, such as emergency departments, walk-in clinics, urgent care centres, primary care or other community and first contact settings.

My recent work was crucial in creating a robust healthcare infrastructure for an extensive patient demographic in an area with challenges recruiting a robust workforce.My teaching roles at St. George's University and at City University complemented my clinical experience, allowing me to nurture future healthcare professionals. As a mentor, I had the opportunity to share my expertise in urgent care and general practice, impacting the next generation of healthcare providers and supporting clinicians to publish evidence-based practice.Throughout my career, I have seized opportunities to expand my expertise beyond traditional healthcare environments. Volunteering in medically underserved areas, such as Tanzania, the Dominican Republic, and Haiti's borders, has emphasized the significance of education, nutrition, and prudent medication usage. I leverage these experiences to inform my practice and ensure effective communication within an increasingly multicultural medical landscape.As a member of various advisory boards, I've utilised my expansive network to coordinate educational programs at the Royal Society of Medicine. In my current role as President, I am thrilled to support practitioners in primary care and encourage strategic planning and interdisciplinary cooperation.
